KEEP MOVING

In April 2024, we began a partnership with Philadelphia-based and certified women-owned organizational wellbeing company, On the Goga, so City of Philadelphia employees can access info, resources and classes all about lifestyle wellness, for free.

On the Goga’s Wellbeing Hub supports the City’s efforts to offer health equity and diversity for City employees and their families. The hub gives you access to services, workshops, virtual coaching sessions, tools and resources that can support and sustain emotional, physical, nutritional, financial, and community wellbeing.

Employees can find workout playlists, exercise tips, nutritious recipes, expert advice, meditations, and exercises to nurture emotional health and cultivate resilience. There’s a wealth of information and tools to support their lifestyle journey.

There are also resources around communication strategies and boundary setting techniques, content aimed at improving the wellbeing of their communities and tips, tricks, and tools to help us create healthier living and working spaces. Get started at On the Goga’s Wellbeing Hub »

BACKUP CARE

What happens when your family needs you, but work does, too? For employees with access to backup care, the choice becomes a bit easier—whether the need is scheduled or unexpected.

We want you to thrive at work and bring your best self to the job. For many, backup care is an essential part of making that happen. Our program, developed in partnership with Wellthy, provides eligible employees with resources and tools to support their own well-being and the care of their dependent children (up to age 25 in most cases).

At the City of Philadelphia, we offer qualifying employees emergency backup care services for dependent loved ones, helping you manage life’s unpredictable challenges with less stress.

When regular care arrangements fall through, support is just a click away. Learn more about Wellthy – our employee back-up care program »

Our PTO benefits include:

The City has so many different people, doing different work. One thing they have in common is affordable medical, dental, and vision plans that start on day one. All permanently appointed employees are eligible to enroll on day one or during the period of Open Enrollment.

Prescription drugs can be an essential part of maintaining or improving health. Your prescription drug benefit includes a list of medications covered by your plan. All permanently appointed employees are eligible to enroll on their first day or during the open enrollment period.

Dental benefit plans play an important role in supporting overall health. Your benefits cover 100% of preventive care and a portion of basic and major procedures. All permanently appointed employees are eligible to enroll on their first day or during the open enrollment period.

Eye exams are a key part of maintaining overall health. Vision benefits help cover the cost of care, including eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses. All permanently appointed employees are eligible to enroll on their first day or during the open enrollment period.

Life insurance benefits provide a payout to beneficiaries if an employee passes away while the policy is active. All permanently appointed employees are eligible to enroll in life insurance benefits during the open enrollment period.

In September 2023, the City of Philadelphia began offering a free transit benefit for all permanent full-time, part-time, and provisional employees through the SEPTA Key Advantage program. Covered employees can also take advantage of pre-tax commuter deductions to save on mass transit, qualified bicycle expenses, and parking costs. Eligible employees can sign up at any time.

In November 2024, the City of Philadelphia announced a new benefit for employees: Wellthy’s Backup Care Program. This program offers emergency backup care services for dependent children and adult loved ones, helping employees manage life’s unpredictable challenges. Eligible employees can sign up at any time.

Through our partnership with On the Goga, approximately 26,000 City of Philadelphia employees have access to resources and classes focused on physical, emotional, and community wellness at no additional cost. Eligible employees can sign up at any time.

As part of our mission to support employees’ growth and education, the Returning to Learning program offers tuition discounts for City employees who attend participating colleges and universities. Spouses, domestic partners, and dependents may also be eligible, depending on the school. Eligible employees can sign up at any time.

Retirement means something different to everyone, but most of us look forward to enjoying our favorite pursuits and feeling financially secure. The City of Philadelphia provides eligible employees with monthly retirement income for life in addition to Social Security benefits. While benefits may vary by plan, they are generally based on a combination of retirement age, salary, and years of service.

For retired employees, comprehensive benefits — including medical, prescription, dental, and vision — are available. Retirees must have at least 10 years of service with the city and meet the age requirements for the plan they are enrolled in to qualify for this benefit.
